Nottingham City Regatta

In accordance with other events on Holme Pierrepont, any crews not following the circulation patterns shown below will be automatically disqualified from the regatta.

Circulation pattern during Race times. NO practising on the course during the regatta.

Blue arrows = Warm Down  Green Arrows = Warm Up   Both in Lane 5 only

In all cases crews must not interfere with races in progress

Head of the Trent


Division 1      Circulation

Before racing, all crews to proceed to the start on City side of the river. Coxes right , Bowside or Starboard closest to the City bank. At the start area take instruction from the start marshals. The Start area is upstream of Clifton Bridge, with marshalling upstream from the Farm.

During the race all crews take the centre line. The Start Line is near to Clifton Bridge and the Finish is at the T.S.Orion. Race length is just under 6000m.

After racing all crews to proceed past the YELLOW BOUY before turning to come back to the clubs. Crews going to the NWSC and Sailing Club stagings must also clear the YELLOW BOUY area before slowing to put tops on.

Division 2     Circulation

Before racing, as Division 1 above. Crews please note that the stream can be quite strong, keep well into the side on your way up to the start. (have a look at the link Steering on the Trent below for more)

During the race all crews to take the centre line. The Start line is near to Clifton Bridge and the Finish will be approx 200m upstream of Trent Bridge, opposite County Hall. Check the finish postion on your way to the start. Race length is just under 4000m.

After racing all crews to proceed past the YELLOW BOUY before turning to come back to the clubs.Crews going to the NWSC and Sailing Club stagings must also clear the YELLOW BOUY area before slowing to put tops on.

Division 3     Circulation

As in Division 1


Normal Circulation for the river Trent when there is NO event on the Trent. 

Go to the rowing section of the Nottingham & Union website and look at "Steering Advice from the Safety adviser" or try this link Steering on the Trent . The River gets very shallow past the Pipe, and Millers Island is the furthest you can safely go!
